Overall measurements: 260cm across the top, 255cm across the bottom, 302cm along left side, 299cm along right side Tapestry with linen lining and Velcro across the top for hanging purposes. Colours generally and evenly faded overall. Overall balance and attractive appearance, with pretty lemon yellows and apple greens. Soft musk pink very faded now. With areas of reweaving, and repair, commensurate with age. Later highlights to faces to add definition, for example eyes and lips. Top edge is predominantly later reweaving, especially visible in the corners. Selvedge across top and bottom edges is later. Overall professionally restored condition, with well executed repairs and highlights to add some colour (for example coral colour in fruit). Tapestry has been professionally restored in France and has the workshop label on the reverse of the linen lining. Chevalier Conservation Label: Date of work - 01 2013. Attractive tapestry of a good size. Evocative of the 16th century in having tapestries with large figures, in narrative contexts and with borders incorporating allegorical figures and their attributes.
