Masterfully carved with a fierce deity head on each of the four corners, symbolically united by the shared quadrafoil ear ornament and the undulating headband. It is carved with a pierced quadrafoil emblem on the top, symbolic of the portal between the earthly and supernatural realms. Maya cube pendants are rare and prestigious ornaments ; the great ruler Pakal of Palenque was buried holding a jade cube pendant in one hand.
