Vase appear unbroken but remains of root marks on the interior. Surface shows general wear and with some infill of details, Generally very good condition of overall design, good color , wear consistent with age and use within the culture.

La splendide et sophistiquée scène de cour dépeint une offrande faite à l'occasion d'un grand événement : un seigneur effectue un geste en direction de onze témoins assis, vêtus d'une cape blanche chatoyante et de coiffes variées. Une frise de glyphes encercle le rebord du vase. La mise en scène de la politique à travers des cérémonies officielles et des cultes était primordiale pour la cour royale maya. Comme ici, les salles du trône étaient surélevées par des plateformes afin d’offrir une meilleure visibilité au public placé à l’extérieur. Dans cette scène, le seigneur habillé avec raffinement est assis sous les somptueux rideaux tapissant les murs du palais ; la plateforme se matérialise sous la forme de la mâchoire béante d'un serpent mythique. Elle est agrémentée d'un grand coussin en peau de jaguar et de panneaux latéraux sculptés. L’offrande majeure est illustrée dans le registre principal : une pile de vêtements, certainement en coton et soigneusement pliés, empaquetée par un panache de plumes. Bien qu'anodine de prime abord, l'obole ornée de glands au-dessus de l'offrande principale contient une tête coupée identifiée comme le Dieu du maïs. Dans l'auditoire, un personnage assis regarde directement le spectateur, tandis que deux personnages discutent derrière lui et qu’au-dessous, un autre personnage regarde par-dessus son épaule. Leurs gestes et leurs regards brisent l’apparente immobilité de surface, rappelant l'importance du récit illustré et de l'essence inhérente au vase. « Les cérémonies et les protocoles sociaux qui leur sont associés ont imprégné ces admirables artefacts d’une vitalité et d'une puissance historique. À travers ces événements, les vases deviennent des incarnations du paysage social de l'ère classique maya » (Reents-Budet et Bishop in Pillsbury, Ancient Maya Art at Dumbarton Oaks, 2012, p. 298).

The magnificent and elaborate palace scene portrays a large tribute offering event, with a lord gesturing before eleven seated attendants each in brilliant white capes and various headdresses. A Primary Standard Sequence glyph band encircles the rim.

The importance of political theater with actions of service and ritual were important within the Maya royal court. The throne rooms were elevated on platforms as is this scene, to give full visibility to the outside audience. Here the elaborately clothed  lord is seated under the swaggered curtains of the palace walls, the raised platform is in the form of a stylized open jaws of a mythic serpent, with large jaguar skin pillow and sculpted side panels. The major offering bundle is at the front of the upper register, a stack of carefully folded material most likely cotton cloth, bundled with a panache of feathers. While seemingly innocuous tribute, just above the bundle is an offering vessel adorned with tassels and containing a severed head, identified as the Maize god. Within the retinue, one seated attendant looks directly out towards the viewer, behind him two figures converse and another figure below them looks directly behind.  Their gestures and gazes break the seemingly static element of the painted surface, a reminder of the narrative portrayed, and the essential ‘life’ of the vessel itself.  It is commented, “the feasting episodes and related social incidents [that] infused these finely made wares with historical vitality and consequence. Through these events, the vessels become physical expressions of relations across the Classic Maya social landscape” (Reents-Budet and Bishop, in Pillsbury, ed., Ancient Maya Art at Dumbarton Oaks, 2012, p. 298).
