Les « cuillers » olmèques, de forme élégamment étirée, étaient sculptées dans un jade précieux et portées en ornement, suspendues au cou. La cavité centrale devait servir à la préparation de substances à dessein cérémoniel, qui s’écoulaient par les embouts cannelés. The graceful elongated 'spoons' were carved in precious jade and suspended as neck ornaments. The central depression would have been used for the preparation of special substances that were channeled off in the fluted flanges.
