Spanish by birth, Giovanni Quinsa spent the majority of his career in Naples.  His oeuvre consists of only a few works, most of which, like the present still life, exhibit an elegant and modern compositional simplicity.

The canvas has been relined and is flat and stable. There is a small craqueleure pattern throughout which is visible in raking light and in some of the white and lighter areas of the canvas, but it is not distracting. The colors are bright and brushwork crisp, with a clear and clean varnish. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals small, scattered areas of inpainting that mostly addresses the craqueleure patterns and is primarily in the background and darker areas. It is not visible to the naked eye. The painting is ready to hang. Offered unframed.
