The sheet has darkened significantly, which has pushed the white bodycolour forward. The sheet is laid down.

Lod, in modern day Israel, was the birth place of the fourth century martyr St. George. Roberts' view shows the older structure of the Church of St. George, before the current church and mosque were built over its ruins in the 1870s. We are grateful to Briony Llewellyn for her help when cataloguing this lot.
