描述

  • Dolo, a view on the Brenta canal, with the bell tower of San Rocco in the distance
  • oil on canvas
  • 20.9 x 27.8 cm.; 8 1/4  x 10 7/8  in.

Condition

The canvas is lined, the paint surface is relatively dirty, and the varnish is discoloured. There is evidence of a wear throughout where the canvas weave has become more visible. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals retouchings to a handful of repaired horizontal tears in the sky upper centre, the longest measuring approx. 8 cm., and an L-shaped one to the right of the bell tower 2 x 4 cm. There are further small retouchings scattered in the sky, as well as along the upper margin. The main composition however appears largely untouched, save for retouching to the boat centre left. In overall fair condition.
