Condition

The sheet bears another work most likely by the same hand on the verso. The sheet is secured to the mount with three adhesive tabs along the upper edge. The sheet undulates in keeping with the materials and Artist's working methods. The collaged elements are generally securely adhered, however, in some areas they are slightly lifting, most probably in keeping with the Artist's intentions and materials. They are all generally in good condition. There is some minor craquelure in the thick area of impasto in the green pigment to the left of the flowers in the lower half of the work. There are some minor accretions, and some instances of studio matter are apparent. There are adhesive strips along the upper, left and lower edges, which are the remnants of a previous mount, not visible in the current presentation. This excepting the work appears in very good overall condition, with strong vivid colours throughout. The sheet is window mounted and held behind glass in a simple wooden frame. Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6424 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
