Senaka Senanayake is one of Sri Lanka’s most popular living artists with over a hundred solo shows to his credit, and numerous group exhibitions across the world including Europe, China, Australia, Japan, Singapore, Czechoslovakia, Korea and Egypt to name a few. Senanayake achieved international acclaim at the early age of ten when he held his first one-man exhibition in New York at the Asia House Art Gallery. He received his formal training from Yale University, graduating in Art and Architecture. He is best known for his vibrant canvases depicting women, lush landscapes and more recently endangered flora and fauna from his native country Sri Lanka. This current lot is the largest of Senanayake's works to ever be offered at international auction.
