Condition

Please note that this work is on its original canvas. Executed on Matadi flour bags. There is very minor buckling to the canvas, most noticeable in the right hand corner of the work. There is a seam running vertically within the right hand side of the work where the canvas is joined. The surface of the work exhibits some extensive cracking throughout as well as areas of minor to moderate associated surface loss. The largest area of surface loss is within the lower left hand quadrant of the work, measuring approximately 30mm high by 5mm wide. There appear to be areas throughout where the cracked surface has destabilized the paint surface and there is risk of flaking. All four edges of the work exhibit moderate stretcher marks and associated loss. Please note that all corners of the work exhibit wear and moderate associated surface loss. There appears to be a tear in the canvas measuring approximately 30mm long along the lower left-hand edge of the canvas. UV Light Report: Inspection under UV light shows the extent of the cracking and surface loss, but no indication of restoration or repair. Frame: Please note that this work is stretched but unframed. Tape along all four edges. Further enquiries: Please telephone the department on +44 (0) 207 293 6323 if you have any questions regarding the present work.
