The canvas is not lined. Inspection under UV light reveals a thick varnish, preventing the light from fully penetrating. Some of the pigments fluoresce where the varnish has slightly degraded. There are two small spots of retouching in the center and lower left of the composition. There is a fine and stable craquelure to the lighter pigments in the sky and to the river. There is a pin-sized puncture to the canvas parallel to the center of the right edge. There is a loss to the pigment toward the upper center of the right edges, measuring (4 by 1cm). This work is in overall fairly good condition.
