The canvas is lined. Examination under UV light reveals a thick layer of varnish preventing the UV light from fully penetrating, however there appear to be areas of old retouching underneath the varnish which partially fluoresce. There are faint horizontal stretcher bar marks along the upper edge and to the centre, as well as vertical stretcher bar marks through the middle of the composition. There are fine lines of craquelure, some of which correspond to the vertical stretcher bar marks and have been retouched. There is a small paint loss to the centre of the right edge. There are a few faint fly spots to the sky in the upper right quadrant which can be cleaned according to taste. This work is in overall good condition.
