Condition
The canvas is not lined. Examination under UV light reveals small spots of retouching along the edge of the tablecloth, the rim of the fruit bowl at the foreground of the composition as well as to the left edge of the bowl in the background. Examination under UV light further reveals a large area of in pentimenti to the upper right of the melon, where a cat appears to have been painted out of the composition. There are spots of retouching in the upper corners. There is a horizontal stretcher-bar mark visible in raked light in the centre of the composition. This work is in overall good condition.
