Condition

Executed on cream wove paper. The sheet is hinged to a mount in two places along the top edge of its verso and in one spot along the verso of the lower right edge. Along the bottom edge the sheet is extensively inscribed, likely by the estate. The sheet is time stained overall and there is a faint matte stain running along all four edges. There are scattered spots of foxing, particularly along the edges. The sheet is in overall good condition.

“Pascin…has taken woman much as she is, sometimes with flaws, often lovely, and he has shown us that her body need be neither a mirror of divine perfection nor the object of humiliation and shame, but simply beautiful in the fact of its existence”
—Tom L. Freudenheim

This work will be included in the forthcoming supplement to the catalogue raisonné being prepared by Abel and Gérard Rambert.
