Château Pichon Longueville, Lalande 1995 Pauillac, 2ème Cru Classé
Good levels, 1 label very slightly soiled, 3 very slightly scuffed
In 2017, an astonishing, youthful explosion of cru classé blackberry fruit on the nose. I thought it was a 2000 as it was so vibrant, but this is plumper. As often with Pichon Lalande, one hesitates between Pauillac and St.Julien - tannic, rich and ripe, with the Merlot at this epoch loving the vintage. It is plush and plummy, without the core of structure and definition of the 1996, but so out there and generous. One swigged this with great delight. Serena Sutcliffe, MW
