Reference number 50.718 in the Jean Royère Archives, Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Paris. At the beginning of the 1960s, Mrs. Carvalho commissioned Jean Royère to conceive the interior design of her home in the north of Paris. Jean Royère gave free rein to his imagination and custom-made a unique version of his iconic Ours Polaire sofa for her. Although the sofa has similar outer dimensions, the seat cushion is larger, with more room to seat as the armrests are narrower. The design of the back is also different: it is straight instead of rounded. This sofa is a unique variation of its kind known to this day.

We would like to thank Galerie Jacques Lacoste for their assistance with the cataloguing of this lot.
