Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. The collaged elements are secure and intact. There is evidence of wear and handling to the collaged elements with associated tears and creases, inherent to the work and the artist's chosen medium. Embedded fibers and paint bristles are scattered throughout, inherent to the work. There is evidence of slight buckling to the collage and there is evidence of very minor cracking concentrated in the bottom right quadrant. Framed.

"When I paint, the language that I use is so abstract—even when I’m representing something recognizable—that it’s the public that has to act on its own account. They have to look at the painting, observe it, without external explanations. I paint that which surprises me, not what I already know. I want to use the medium of painting to see what I have not yet seen." Julian Schnabel
