Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is very minor evidence of wear and handling to the edges, including some hairline craquelure at the pull margins. Under very close inspection, some scattered pinpoint brown spot accretions are visible above the tip of, and to the right of, the lower red form. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, some of the aforementioned accretions fluoresce brightly but do not appear to be the sign of restoration. Framed.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.

"The great figurative painters were involved with grandeur of vision, using the figure as a means to an end, whereas today the best of the abstract painters are also involved with a grandeur of vision, using color as their means toward a new space-light."
