Condition

This work is in very good condition overall. There is evidence of wear and handling to the edges which are lightly soiled. There are three minor outward protrusions that correspond to the stretcher bar along the top edge and at the middle of the canvas, all approximately 9 inches from the right edge. There are a few very minor and unobtrusive brown media accretions throughout the work. There are two shiny circular areas of discoloration: a ½-inch area in the blue band, 12 ½ inches from the bottom and 11 inches from the right edge, and another in the purple border on the right, 14 inches from the top. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned shiny areas fluoresce brightly but are not the result of restoration. Other drip accretions that are not visible in normal light also fluoresce brightly but are not the result of restoration. Framed.
In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
