Condition

This work is in very good and sound condition overall. There is evidence of light wear and handling to the edges, most noticeably along the edges of the Masonite. Under raking light, faint vertical stretcher bar impressions are visible along the lateral edges. The colors are bright, fresh and clean. There are stable drying cracks throughout the work, inherent to the artist’s working method and chosen medium. Under very close inspection, a few scattered spot and drip accretions are visible in the blue painted area beneath the figure’s right sleeve and there is an approximately 2-inch black horizontal scuff at the center of the figure’s right pocket. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, the aforementioned spot and drip accretions fluoresce lightly but do not appear to be the result of restoration. Framed.

"I had wanted to make some paintings that dealt with actual physical space, with real three dimensional space, but I found that the combination of the two flat surfaces produced this incredible effect of projections so I stayed with that."
