The relatively high register number of this bookcase would suggest that it was first conceived by Linke in the 1910-20 period, albeit in his inimitable interpretation of the Louis XIV style with an adaptation of Oeben-style cube parquetry seen in the mid 18th century. There are several Linke cabinets that incorporated the popular Boulle-style 'screw' foot or pied à spirales – Jupiter's thunderbolt, as famously incorporated on the commodes made for Louis XIV's bedroom at Trianon in 1708/9.
