of cube form, the lacquer panels on the lid and sides decorated in takamakie representing Japanese temples and a landscape by a pond, overgrown with reeds and willows, within chased zig-zag and floral gold cagework, the base of brown aventurine lacquer, opening to reveal  four small gold-capped gold scent bottles and a matching funnel, circular gold pushpiece, maker's mark rubbed, charge and discharge marks of Julien Berthe, 1750-1756, Paris date letter

Condition

overall very good condition; light scratch to the panel on the right side of the lid, the top panel with a horizontal surface scratch
