The main figure is in good condition overall, with wear consistent with age and use within the culture. Both front of the feet are missing and an open crack is running to the rear of the headdress. Another one starts on the buttocks and goes up a few centimeters' s length to the back. The small figure has completely disappeared – only the two hands remain visible. Exceptional conservation of the decorative motifs in relief on the main figure

Cette statue est une mère à l’enfant porté dans le dos dont il ne reste que deux mains aux pouces écartés, posées sur les épaules de la mère.  Debout, majestueuse par son port de tête, elle arbore une superbe coiffure-casque rehaussée d’une tresse centrale, un front bombé aux neuf chéloïdes, des sourcils en arc de cercle, de grands yeux en amande et une bouche souriante.   Une poitrine haute domine un buste tapissé de scarifications en losanges. Au-dessus de l’hernie ombilicale sous forme de boule, une cavité est vidée de sa charge. Les courtes jambes sont fléchies et sur le haut de la cuisse, les mains sont posées avec le pouce en l’air.

Le détail du pouce en l’air est un trait commun à l’effigie de la collection Malcom et au chasse-mouches de la galerie Dulon. Il révèle un grand maître sculpteur du Gabon (Grand-Dufay, 2016, Fig 49 et 74 a).
