Arabic manuscript on paper, each volume with 9 lines to the page written in black naskh, surah headings in gold within polychrome cartouches, each volume with a gold and polychrome headpiece and a gold and polychrome medallion, each in a brown binding, in lacquer box
Condition
In overall good condition, each volume with minor scratches and damages to the binding, the pages with minor smudges, rubbing and various stains, some quires loose, the box with minor crackeleure throughout but overall in good condition, the lid detatched as the screws have been damaged, as viewed.

inscriptions: On the top of the box: Qur’an, chapter II (al-baqarah), verses 255-6.
On the sides of the box: Invocations to God to bless The Fourteen Innocents, each with their full attributes ending with endowing the box and contents to an unnamed place by Haji Aqa Muhammad, the Qazvini merchant, son of Haji Muhammad Husayn Qazvini known as Sabuni (soap merchant), under the superintendent of Muhammad Baqir known as Mirza dated Jumdi II, 1258 AH (July-August 1842 AD).
The sixty-part Qur’an is copied in fine naskh. A few of the volumes bear the same waqf inscriptions on their opening pages and the date of Jumdi II, 1258 AH (July-August 1842 AD). Each volume is finely decorated, and the different styles and colours employed for the illumination indicates that different illuminators were responsible for them.
Another Qur'an in thirty sections, with fitted case and dated 1271 AH/1854-55 AD, sold at Christie's London, 21 April 2016, lot 120.
