An Aghkand sgraffiato pottery bowl, Persia, 12th-13th century
 
of deep rounded form with straight edges on a short foot, the body with a cream slip-ground decorated with iron brown and copper green splashed glazes, incised drawings, featuring a simurgh amidst foliage, the cavetto with bands containing stylised details, the back left plain, old collector's labels, handwritten 'no.1447' and '6' and printed 'no. 101' and a further faded
