It has not been possible to see the work entirely unframed. The canvas is lined and slightly undulating. There is a milky varnish preventing UV light from fully penetrating, however examination under UV light appears to reveal no evidence of retouching. There are a few thin lines of craquelure, notably to the model's neck and proper right shoulder, and some minor paint shrinkage to the black pigment towards the centre of the right edge. There are a few dots of paint losses notably towards the centre of the left edge. There is a spot of light fluorescence below the model's proper right knee, which does not appear to be related to any retouching. The surface is a bit dusty with a few spots of superficial dirt, notably in the upper left quadrant. This work is in overall good condition and could benefit from a light clean.
