The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes, Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This work on board is in very good state. It does not seem to have ever been restored. The artist's technique in this painting is reminiscent of glazed ceramic. There does not appear to be any abrasion or damage. Any indication of the light undercolor showing through is intentional and original to the artist. The paint layer in the sky in the upper left corner is cracked and possibly slightly unstable, but the remainder of the work seems to be in beautiful state.
