Condition

Overall in very good condition. When viewed in person, the rippling blue of the glass complements the soft greens and yellows of the floral acid-etched decoration. The glass with a few shallow surface scratches scattered throughout, consistent with age and gentle handling. The glass with a few minor air bubbles and inclusions scattered throughout the shade and base, inherent in the making. A few small darker green spots to one of the leaves of the decoration of the shade appear to be original and consistent with the decoration of the base. There is a small and minor chip to the top rim of the glass standard, which is not visible once the bronze shade mount is placed on the standard. The base and shade presents with some minor discolorations and surface dirt to the recessed areas, consistent with age and gentle use. The patinated bronze portion of the light in good condition, with some minor oxidation, rubbing to patina, and surface scratches, not visible when shade is placed. The central bronze mount displays a delicately rendered floral design, which complements the motif and coloration of the glass. With a single socket fitted for a bayonet-style bulb. The lamp is electrically stable and fitted with a US plug. A rare and important example of delicate and inspired Art Nouveau glassworks. Sotheby's does not guarantee electrical components and suggests having all wiring inspected by a licensed electrician.
