Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces appear to retain their original dark and rich finish, which has been sensitively waxed at some point in the history of the piece. The wood surfaces present with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, light wear, and some occasional scuffing mainly concentrated to the feet and edges of the case, consistent with age and gentle use. The edges with some scattered small edge abrasions with old associated losses which have aged and toned so as to present consistently with the overall dark finish of the piece. The front edge of the cabinet top with an old shallow edge loss measuring approximately 3 inches wide, not visually distracting and consistent with age and use. The proper left and right sides of the case with more concentrated old surface abrasions, some visible in the catalogue illustration. The top with some light wear and scattered ring marks and discoloration, consistent with age and use. The patinated copper hardware presents with scattered minor scratches, abrasions and rubbing, and displays a rich and satisfying patina. With some surface staining to the interior of the cabinet concentrated to the proper right section of the bottom board, consistent with age and use. The cabinet doors open and close easily. On the proper right side of the back, one area of wood has come slightly loose, measuring approximately 8 inches. A quintessential form that displays the superb design quality that exemplifies Stickley's earliest production. Please note: this lot is sold with an original key.
