David Davidson was the author of five novels, as well as numerous TV dramas and documentaries. He received the watch as a gift from the record producer Michael Kapp after writing the script for a documentary six-LP album entitled “To The Moon.” Mr. Kapp both conceived and oversaw this project.
Michael Kapp produced recordings such as Louis Armstrong’s 1964 hit album, “Hello Dolly.” Another 1960s Michael Kapp production was a single featuring the comic Bill Dana playing a timid astronaut named Jose Jimenez. That recording ultimately led to friendships between Mr. Kapp and several real-life astronauts, and to the production of “To The Moon,” a highly serious take on NASA crew members.
Mr. Davidson’s “To The Moon” script chronicles America’s space program on 6 LP records.
