Oblong folio (300 x 405mm.), lithographed title with metallic ink, 21 ALBUMEN PRINTS (average 215 x 280mm., or the reverse), individually mounted on thick card, recto only, most with the photographer's blindstamp to a corner of the print, each neatly captioned in ink on the mount, publisher's dark purple cloth gilt, upper cover titled in gilt, flat spine, a few marginal stains, binding very slightly rubbed

FINE EARLY PHOTOGRAPHS OF VENICE. The Swiss photographer and optician Charles (or Carlo) Ponti settled in Venice around 1852 and established a photography studio offering views of Venice for tourists. In 1866, he was appointed optician to Victor Emmanuel II.
