Small folio (290 x 200), 73 matt silver prints of Yangtze from Shanghai to Chungking, (81 x 108mm. or reverse), all signed "Dr. A", dated "1906" and numbered 1-73 in the negative, printed list of photographs in German at end, all mounted recto and verso on thick card, dark green thick card boards, blindstamped on upper cover, string tied, a few images trimmed affecting text in the negative

In September 1900 Dr. Paul Assmy (Aßmy) went to China, as a member of the East Asian Expeditionary Corps. He initially worked as a medical doctor in Field Hospital 6 in Beijing. He ended up spending nearly 33 years in China, during which he documented his travels.
