  • Autograph letter signed, to Barton O. Aylesworth, President of the State Agricultural College, Fort Collins, in response to his letter enquiring about her background and life, and recording her record-breaking ascent of Koser Gunge, 4pp., 8vo, Berlin, Jan. 1, 1902, with envelope
"I will answer it [your letter] as best I can for it is impossible for me to go into details of my travels here & am a busy woman. 1. I was born in 1859 at Worcester Mass. 2. Was educated in New York & Germany...". The letter continues to provide details of her life and adventures: "travelled extensively over all countries of Europe... and did much mountaineering in Tirol & Switzerland. Our last and greatest journey was in India, Ceylon & Java & lasted 2½ years... We spent 2 summers climbing in the Himalayas... We climbed 3 pioneer peaks which gave me the mountaineering record for high climbing for women, when on Mt. Koser Gunge I reached 21,000 feet...", and further biographical information, including books she had written.
