A RARE AND EARLY ANGLO-INDIAN ALBUM, with fine portraits and views. Many of the photographs are by Eugene Clutterbuck Impey (1830-1904), a soldier from a prominent family in the service of the British administration in India. He was a prolific and skilled photographer, and an award winning member of the Bengal Photographic Society. In 1858 he was appointed political agent in the court of Alwar in north-eastern Rajasthan. During his five years there he photographed extensively, amassing material for a book of architectural and landscape scenes. In 1865 he published a book on Delhi, Agra, and Rajpootana, illustrated with 80 albumen prints.
