These two views were published, together with eight others of the city, by George Leuzinger in 1862. "All [the views] are extremely rare, and are distinguished by the perfection with which they were drawn on the lithographic stone, as well as for their artistic beauty. Additionally, their generous size is impressive, and allows the most important points of the city to be recognised" (Marciel Levy, Iconografia e Paisagem: Coleção Cultura Inglesa, Rio de Janeiro, 1994, pp.82-85).
