Condition

Overall very good condition. The shade is executed with outstanding dichroic glass. When viewed with reflected light the shade displays a palette of subdued yellow-greens, greens and muted oranges. When illuminated the glass glows with a fiery red-orange palette with vigorous mottling in tones of greens and ochres, which is even deeper and richer when viewed in person than in the printed catalogue illustrations. The shade with approximately 15 hairline cracks dispersed throughout, stable. The shade with some extremely light surface soiling concentrated to the contours adjacent to the leadlines. The shade leading in the lower curtain border shows some subtle variation and has possibly been stabilized. It is possible that a few adjacent glass tiles in the lower curtain register have been replaced at some point in the history of the piece, though the glass all appears quite complimentary. The base is in very good condition and displays a rich brown patina with scattered minor surface scratches, abrasions, and discolorations consistent with age and gentle use. The base with light surface soiling and minor traces of oxidation to the recessed contours of the design. The outer edge of the foot with some minor areas of wear to the patina. The sockets all appear original and undisturbed. With a period “Pig Tail” finial which is in very good condition with some light surface scratches and abrasions, scattered minor discolorations, and a few shallow bruises. An outstanding example of the model with a spectacular glass selection. One must experience this lamp in person to truly appreciate the richness and brilliance of its dichroic glass selection.
