Condition

Overall in very good condition. The wood surfaces with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, dents, marks, minor areas of rubbing and discoloration, and a few areas of paint residue, consistent with age and gentle use. There are natural knots, irregularities, and separations in the wood grain, typical for Inland fir, which have been reinforced with wood infill in areas by Molesworth at the time of production; a few of these areas throughout with scattered minor losses to the infill. The rear upper edge of both back poles with areas of slightly more pronounced abrasions, the largest to the proper right support pole of the chair to the left in the catalogue illustration, measuring approximately ½ x 1 ¼ in. The leather is likely original; its surfaces with minor scattered scratches, dents, and instances of rubbing, all consistent with age and gentle use. The brass tacks with some minor surface scratches and areas of rubbing, not visually distracting and consistent with age and gentle use. The chair to the left in the catalogue illustration with a slightly larger loss to the infill to the proper left pole, the loss measuring approximately 5 1/8 x 1/8 in. The front proper left leg also with a loss to the infill measuring approximately 3 ¾ x 1/8 in. The front edge of the proper left armrest with a small abrasion measuring approximately ½ x 1/8 in. The chair to the right in the catalogue illustration with an area of losses to the infill to the proper left stile, the area measuring approximately 5 5/8 in. long. The front proper right leg also with two more prominent losses to the infill, the larger measuring approximately 6 ½ in. long. A pair of highly comfortable armchairs, the model is accentuated with decorative brass tacks, different from Molesworth's typical hammered brass roundels.
