The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting is in excellent condition. The canvas has been lined with glue as an adhesive. The paint layer shows hardly any retouches at all, particularly in the figure. The left side of the painting has received retouches in the sky, and in the landscape to a lesser degree. There are also a few retouches on the lower right edge. The restoration is very good, and the painting should be hung as is.
