SODALITE DEMI-PAURE, 'DAWN OF ART'; SODALITE EAR CLIPS, BOTH ILIAS LALAOUNIS, 1970S AND AN ADDITIONAL PAIR OF EAR CLIPS

Comprising: a hinged bangle and a choker both of planished torque design with spherical sodalite terminals, inner circumference approximately 160 and 355mm respectively; and a pair of ear clips collet-set with a sodalite disc supported by three stylised dolphins, all signed Lalaounis, maker's mark; plus an additional pair of ear clips of planished hoop design, Greek maker's mark.The Dawn of Art collection was one of the earliest creations of fourth generation Greek goldsmith Ilias Lalaounis (1920-2013), who having worked for Zolotas, which was run by his uncle, founded his own company in 1969 setting up his headquarters at the base of the Acropolis. Condition

Choker and bracelet both signed Ilias Lalaounis, stamped with maker's mark, A21 and K22 for 22 carat gold. Hinges with good tension (bangle slightly stiffer), sodalite shows typical blue and white veining, very light surface scuffs consistent with wear, some evidence of glue around the base of the spheres. Sodalite ear clips each signed Lalaounis, stamped with maker's mark, A21 and K22 for 22 carat gold, one disc has a chip in the corner, the other has a crack but both secure in the collet, some evidence of glue around inside edge, general surface scuffs consistent with wear, clip fittings with good tension. Hoop ear clips - each clip stamped GOLDEN D, 950 for gold, Greek maker's mark Ψ. 10, clip fittings with good tension, some tarnish. Total gross weight approximately 214 grams, overall good condition.
