Stoeffler's work on calendar reform was requested by the Lateran Council of 1512-1517 (it had originally been initiated by Sixtus IV who requested Regiomontanus to work on this). As well as details of the calendar, this volume also contains sections on phlebotomy (with a woodcut of anatomical man), eclipses, a gazetteer, calculations for the dating of Easter and the positions of the sun and moon calculated to the year 1579. It is considered the finest production of Köbel's press.
