拍品資料及來源

Reisch's encyclopedic handbook of science, medicine, music, natural history and philosophy was reprinted very regularly during the sixteenth century (see lots 561-562). Book 4 relates to arithmetic and has abacus diagrams printed in the margins, and book 6 is on theoretical and practical geometry. The Ptolemaic map is surrounded by twelve windheads, and at the foot of the Indian Ocean it announces that, contrary to Ptolemy's claims, there is not land but sea containing some islands unknown to Ptolemy.
