拍品資料及來源

Newton's seminal work on finding the roots of equations. The translator, Joseph Raphson, was made a member of the Royal Society in 1691 on the strength of his book Analysis aequationum universalis (1690) which contains the first exposition of what is today known as the Newton-Raphson method for approximating the roots of an equation. This translation appears to be rare at auction, with just 2 copies appearing in over 40 years.
