4to (245 x 190mm.), contemporary red goatskin gilt tooled to a panel design and using a small parrot head stamp, spine gilt in compartments, gilt edges, occasional slight browning, first flyleaf removed, title-page slightly torn along gutter, bookplate removed from verso of title-page, extremities rubbed, joints cracking

FIRST EDITION of this second part. The Naval Binder used a small parrot head stamp, very similar but not identical to this stamp. Samuel Pepys's copy of the first part (published in 1685) was in a Charles Mearne binding.
