拍品資料及來源

Other copies or issues of this work contain two title pages: "The description and use of two arithmetick instruments", and "A new, and most useful instrument for addition and substraction (sic)" (see lots 438 and 440). The first title is dated 1673 and the second 1672. In this copy only the second one is present as in the copy recorded as Wing M2781 and possibly the copies listed as ESTC R202441 and R479027. Compared with the two other copies in the collection, this one has the first gathering (A) reset, and compared with the first copy (lot 438) it has more of the illustrations printed on the versos of text leaves which, according to ESTC, is an indication of later issues. It is likely that this copy is therefore a later issue of the first edition, despite its only title being dated 1672.
