拍品資料及來源

Meichsner's work comprises three parts, "arithmetica practica" (on basic algebra), "arithmetica poetica" (also on algebra but using verses to describe the rules) and "arithmetica historica" (taking examples from historic sources such as the Bible and classical texts). The manuscript is an unrecorded version of Rudolff's work on algebra, seemingly based on the original 1525 edition rather than Michael Stifel's editions of the later sixteenth century (see lot 573 for the 1525 edition). Herrmann was the rector of the Memmingen Lateinschule.
