Condition
The original canvas. There are some localised areas of minor craquelure around the figure's head, in the turquoise cushion and a small area to the fruit bowl in the lower left hand quadrant. However, these are only visible on close inspection. Otherwise the work appears to be in excellent condition. UV light inspection reveals no evidence of any retouching or restoration. Held in the original white painted frame.

'The glorious paintings of glamorous women that Cadell painted between 1912 ad 1915 are a high point in his career... Cadell's sense of glamour, while it is certainly akin to that of Lavery and Sargent, is never chilly or remote, however. It is always touched with the warmth of his appreciation of beauty.'
