both signed and titled in Cyrillic and dated '1985' and '1981' respectively on the reversec-printThe Synthesis Group was formed in 1975 by Natalia Khvostenkova, Nikolai Vostrikov and Sergei Podrez who worked together on painting, photography, video and performance art. Their lack of adherence to distinct forms or defined genres is implicit in their chosen name. The KGB confiscated their film, 'Self-Portrayal', and from the mid-1970s onwards harassment from the authorities meant that they were forced to transfer activity to private apartments. They began to participate in international exhibitions in Western Europe and the United States in the mid-1980s.

'Dream' is hinged in two places. There is very light creasing and handling marks to the edges. Otherwise in overall good condition. Held in simple black wooden frames behind plexiglass. Unexamined out of frame.
