'If we had perfect eyesight, we would not be able to tell objects apart. We would see nothing else but pure harmony' (the artist quoted in K.Muratova, ‘Vladimir Veisberg. Dvadtsat’ vyskazyvanii’, 2000). The artist’s stripped-back approach to both color and composition was informed to a degree by European post-war abstraction, which Weisberg would have encountered first-hand at the World Festival of Youth and Students held in Moscow in 1957.
