描述

The badge of conventional form with the Holy Dove set with rose and cushion-shaped diamonds, embellished with circular-cut emeralds, the beak embellished with a ruby cabochon, superimposed on a Maltese Cross similarly set, height 109mm (including suspension) and width 72mm, one small emerald deficient, fitted case with the coat of arms of Duke of Angoulême.

來源

Louis-Antoine de Bourbon, Duc d’Angoulême and Comte de Marnes (1775-1844), the eldest son of Charles X, who was Grand Admiral of France from 1814 to 1830 (a position which would have been recognised by the inclusion of crossed anchors in the Bourbon arms).

Condition

The base of the case bears several old inventory or reference labels, including the number '12' crowned, '4', and the handwritten notes 'Herzoglich Parmaischer Primogenitur Familienschmuck Nr. Post: 4 des Inventur des Marschallarntes  -  16/7/1910  [signed]  Elie' and 'Ordre du St. Esprit du Roi Charles X' (see also lot xxx).  Despite this note it is thought more likely that the badge belonged to Louis-Antoine de Bourbon, Duc d'Angoulême and Comte de Marnes (1775-1844), the eldest son of Charles X, who was Grand Admiral of France from 1814 to 1830 (a position which would have been recognised by the inclusion of crossed anchors in the Bourbon arms). Emeralds well matched in colour, green of medium strong saturation with minor abrasions and nicks. Diamonds estimated to weigh a total of approximately 22.00 - 28.00 carats, on average I-J colour, VS-SI clarity, as gauged and graded in the mount. Scratches and tarnish to the metal consistent with age and normal use. Overall, in fine condition. One small emerald deficient. Height 109mm (including suspension), width 72mm. Gross weight approximately 48 grams. Accompanied by a blue jewelled sash badge. Velvet-lined gilt red morocco fitted case bearing the coat of arms of the Duke of Angoulême, the crowned Bourbon arms within the St Esprit collar and badge over crossed anchors on the lid.
