描述

The first depicting Louis XVIII, in silver, by Andrieu and Brenet, King’s portrait right, rev., SPES ALTERA REGNI, angel holding wreaths over flaming torch and altar, legend in exergue including the date of the marriage 17 June 1816; the second depicting Duc and Duchesse de Berry, in dark bronze, by Gayrard, Duke’s portrait left, rev., Duchess’s portrait left; the third depicting Duchesse de Berry, in dark bronze, by Gayrard and Barre, Duchess’s portrait left, rev., CONNEXA LILIA CRESCENT, entwined and bound lilies; mint state, in velvet-lined gilt red morocco fitted case marked in ink ‘No. 13’.

Condition

Evidence of tarnish to the metal consistent with age. Overall, in good condition. Total gross weight approximately 116 grams. Fitted case. The medals must be held by edges only.

The couple’s daughter Louise Marie Thérèse d’Artois (21 September 1819 – 1 February 1864) married Charles III, Duke of Parma.  The Duc de Berry was fatally wounded in February 1820 as he left a Paris Opera house with his wife.
